Site Admin: Asides

This is a boring site admin post so move on if you’re not bothered.

Users of the WordPress blogging system can use a feature called asides. These allow bloggers to flag links, news stories or whatever that don’t necessarily merit a longer post but are nontheless considered noteworthy.

Blogger doesn’t provide such functionality but with a few tweaks of the template and some CSS, I’ve come up with something similar. The first one is under this post. I decided to keep them in the body of the blog rather than on a sidebar where I think they can often get lost.

People who receive CY posts by email might see an increase in mail. If it’s getting annoying, it might be worth changing your Google group setting to “daily digest” rather than receive a mail every time I post.

I also want to give the news asides a suitably Day Today-esque name (like “Newsfelch”) rather than “meanwhile…” Any suggestions?

    Paltry poultry?

Abject apologies. Alliterative allusions always annoy – although anything actually appropriate anon, anticipate another altruistic apparition and appendix.
