Azzaman: Basra imposes tariff fees on goods entering ports
The governor of Basra has imposed a 7% tariff fee on imports handled by the southern Iraqi ports in the south.
The move two days after workers at the South Oil Company held a one-day strike to demand a bigger share of the country’s oil revenues for the region and better pay.
The strike and the fee have been ordered by Basra’s governor Mohammad al-Waili who has been leading a campaign for self role for the region.
