The Guardian: Iranian arms intercepted at Iraqi border
Britain yesterday described as “unacceptable” the smuggling of weapons from Iran into Iraq after revealing that a consignment was intercepted at the border between the two countries.
Of course, the UK is an experts at pouring weapons into areas of strife as any Hawk jet pilot in India or Indonesia can tell you. The Iranian’s mistake is clearly that they are not shipping the arms for profit but in the name of some cause the British don’t agree with. Oh, hang on…
The Times: Democracy’s ugly consequence
WHEN British troops eventually pull out from southern Iraq, they will leave behind the Islamic Republic of Basra: a mini-state which is more solidly Islamicist than any other part of the country. After a controversial war and two years of painful nation-building, that is an ugly result.
We’re doing a good enough job of formenting fundamentalism ourselves and don’t need any help from shit-stirring Iranians, thankyouverymuch.
