Typical

The week I decide to bite the bullet and put trackbacks on the site is the week I find (courtesy of MatGB) that Blogger have implemented their own version - Backlinks.

Why they decided to do it via Blog Search is beyond me. It means a delay before any trackback appears though I suppose it removes the need to “ping” a Backlink-enabled site when you’ve linked to it - you just wait for Blog Search to spider your site. Frankly, I hate the Haloscan trackbacking - the ping form keeps crapping out on me for a start - but will need to see if the Blogger version is better, not worse, before taking it out.

Hence, the two trackback system currently running on Chicken Yoghurt.

Link added; it’ll take a bit to work out. It’s probably worth still running trackbacks anyway, as typepad users, etc, probably can’t run backlinks for a bit.

Essentially, I was trying to figure out how to do trackbacks, and found so many reasons why they’re a bad idea that I gave up on them for a bit, came back to it after a weekend away and found they’d done something different anyway.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
