Iain Dale’s Guide to Political Blogging

In time for party conference season, Iain Dale has produced a pamphlet on political blogging to be handed out to conference delegates.

It’s also free to download in PDF format and contains lists of the top 100 Tory, Labour, Lib Dem and non-affiliated political blogs as well as articles from some prominent bloggers. Well worth a look – you might see one or two familiar faces in the lists.

Bastards missed me out. I’ve been on his blogroll for ages, helped him with a template problem, and what thanks do I get?

Oh, wait, I’ve got a hyperlink on his frontpage. Who cares about some little leaflet…

It’s not bad though, and some good input, although some of the ‘pros’ still seem completely clueless. Guido’s spot on about Miliband.

Meh, any promotion of blogging is a good thing, and if it’s going around the activists then we’ll see an upswing of bloggers, which can only be a good thing.

    And this:

“Harry’s Place – the blog meeting place for lefties all over Britian”

    WTF?

I’m afraid your very creditable 19th place is rather diminished by the fact that Dale doesn’t know what the hell he’s on about.

    They what now?…

It has just come to my attention that the Conservatives invented blogging… and quite possibly the helicopter. Rachel has more. UPDATE – Well said: “Harry’s Place – the blog meeting place for lefties all over Britian” WTF? I’m afraid your……

Oooh, look we are on Daily Kos.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/9/18/101053/376

Now the Americans political bloggers have discovered that the Conservatives have discovered UK political bloggers.

    Anyways, les rants du jour…

Why is Harry’s Place suddently lefty? Where is Lenin’s Tomb? What about poor Recess Monkey? How come Iain was cheeky enough to put himself at number 3?

    And so on.

    Tsk. Bastards.

Mat GB, you are number 50 on the UK’s non aligned blogs.

Metropolitan muttering classes discover blogging – 400 sites listed. To what effect ?

Blair doesn’t take note of his party (or even ignores them and some of his Ministers .. la Beckett etc.,)so bloggers have no chance. Proof ? Write to your MP and demand he/she support an Enquiry (Public) into the 7/7 bombings and the toady will be happy to pass on your views without appending any of his/her own. Find me one MP who will publicly support withdrawal today from Iraq or Afghanistan.

The only direct political effect I can determine the blogging community has had is that John Reid when he arrived at the Home Office told the Met. Plod to correct the inaccuracy about the 7/7 “suicide bombers” train from Luton.

Details of any other items which contradict the view that political blogging in the UK is totally futile is walcum.

What does the blogging community mean to the main parties in terms of votes cast ? … note that Dale includes the Independent Party as “non-aligned” !

Activity works – Lenin and the Blair school visit for example… his video of the PM being conveyed in his Mafia style darkened Black Range Rover like a sealed incubus for a Photo ooops with chastened children while he self denies the real world is worth more than all the self impotent chat and chiselling.

I R number 77 in non-aligned, apparently – as if I needed any more proof that I really should pull my finger out – on the (seemingly never updated) Britblog top blogs I’m in the top 10 nationwide, one place above Dale himself. Ho-hum… It’s quality, not quantity and all that…
