Hi I do think that comparisons to the Nazis are going over the top however there are disturbing signs in our society. I just watched the film M today (and blogged about it) it strikes me that what M describes, mass hysteria leading to wrongful convictions and abuses of the rights of those who are criminals is and will come to pass. Whether it will lead as in the society Fritz Lang talked about to Naziism I doubt, but to the kind of atrocities committed by the allies in the second world war like Roosevelt's internment camps I have no doubt. That's what I think we are dealing with, more of a sympathetic government abusing power a little than a totalitarian nightmare- but it doesn't make the abuses any better.

I left the UK for France because of the encroachment of big brother everywhere you go, from police cameras to institutionalised harassment of law-abiding citizens.

France is my motherland, ok it’s not perfect, but at least the French don’t genuflect in front of Blah and his acolytes and let them steam roller over their freedoms – they do stand up when they need to.

Blah is a lawyer for goodness sake!!! When was the last time your faith in a lawyer was fully realised – they should be drowned at birth!

Nit pick: up to, or more than, 650,000 dead Iraqis. It's just as likely to be either. Steve Bell picked up on Ruth Kelly's barbed wire underpants the other day; and Blair is orange, for Lord's sake. How any of that lot feel able to criticise other people's appearance is a mystery. (Who'd be surprised if it were revealed that half the cabinet belong to some sort of Himmler-like chivalric cult?) But if they'll just STFU about their idea of social cohesion I'm prepared to ignore a lot of things. (There: Godwin and cliche net-acronym in one comment: what do I win?) Of course, they won't STFU. Faith schools: existing ones (i.e. C of E) are full up, so they don't have to change. But new ones (i.e. rughead) will now have to admit the children of bible thumpers so as to avoid the creation of madrassas. Inspired. I'm dreading the rest of this parliamentary term. It's going to be grotesque.

Everything I’ve predicted over the past five years has come to pass. Wish I’d been proved wrong. Canada here we come.

Anyhow, getting to the point – Dr Who did not collaborate with the Cybermen! I watched that episode. This is historical revisionism at its worst!
