The 1,206th Post Special

2nd birthday Chicken Yoghurt celebrates its second birthday this week. Two years of pissing in the wind, whistling in the dark and managing to avoid doing anything serious or worthwhile. Negativism, ‘petulant gibberish and non sequiturs’ in other words.

Not that some of it hasn’t been fun, don’t get me wrong. Blogging does have a way of making you think you’re making a contribution to something even if you can’t quite put your finger on what that something is. ‘The more you put in, the more you get out’ isn’t an axiom that applies to blogging, is it? The outcomes are intangible. It’s like religion in that respect.

Anyway. Things may (or may not) change round here and posting might (or might not) be light until I decide just what that change might (or might not) be. Taking the whole bollocks a lot less seriously might be a start.

Yep - Know just what you mean. I got all excited about it for 6 months myself before asking the question ‘Just what the hell am I doing this for?’. Couldn’t really come up with an answer and haven’t posted since August. Just make a damn nuisance of myself commenting on others efforts instead.

But seriously, CY is a must read for me. I hope you don’t knock it on the head completely.

On a different tack, have a look at this: ‘Amused to Death’ - worthy of wide circulation IMHO.

    Congratulations Justin :)

I remember hearing a well known radio host saying that his secret was to imagine a single listener out there sitting by the radio and to present the programme to him/her. That’s just what I do except in my case it’s probably a closer approximation to my actual audience :(

Taking the thing less seriously? But you’re a political blogger - you HAVE to be all angst-ridden, irate and self-satisfied, surely? Or is this suddenly going to become devoted to the daily trials of a northerner lost in the wilds of the south?

“Wen’ t’ town. ‘Twere rubbish. No bacon butties int’ tea room, then me whippet done a crap ont’ pavement. Bloody Thatcher…”

    etc.

I *heart* your blog and long may it continue and all who sail in it. Huzzah.

    Yes, long may it continue.
    Huzzah indeed.

I’m a silent but faithful reader, and just wanted to say thanks for your work, it’s necessary to see a witty, sarcastic, and generally pesismistic voice, it makes me feel grounded. Anyway, good work and congradulations.

Personally I don’t *heart* your blog: I *Heat* your blog. This is almost precisely like *hearting* it, only with a little image in the margin. It’s a thumbnail of the grinning face of one of my favourite celebrities, to let me know precisely what your blog is all about.

Many happy returns Justin, and I quite agree. The day I start taking this lark seriously is the day I quit.

Most of the posting and commenting I do is designed solely to annoy people anyway.

Well, “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”. Of course the corollary of this is that one has to stop in order to find out that what you were doing had been worthwhile.
