Yeah

From the diary column in today’s Guardian:

‘In the light of the events of the past few days, d’you reckon the government will be urging moderate members of organisations representing the nation’s motorists to address the actions of the extremists within their midst? Just a thought.’

Don’t hold your breath.

Update: And isn’t this glorification of terrorism?

An angry motorist could well be responsible for the latest attacks, according to “Captain Gatso”, the campaigner responsible for attacks on speed cameras and who operates under a pseudonym.

“What we are looking at now is a war on the motorist,” said the man who represents Motorists Against Detection (Mad). “And the motorist is fighting back,” he said. “It’s payback time.”

I’m with the motorist all the way.

They introduced the revenue-raising speed cameras in Holland and they didn’t last 5 mins.Yea they all got wrecked by Dutch people with far more balls than us dumb Brits.

In a peculiarly British hypocritical way the camera scheme was called a”casualty reduction scheme” when anyone can see it’s all about stealing money off motorists.Accidents are caused by bad driving ;speed is often irrelevant.

Accidents where I live have increased since the cameras were brought in.Drivers don’t change driving habits they’ll just work out where the cameras are, slow down to go through them… then speed up again.

Where do they put the cameras? Not where there might be an accident but at the bottom of hill where the driver will more easily be caught.Don’t forget the hand-held cameras where the policeman hides in order to catch someone. It’s just utterly corrupt and hypocritical which tells you all you need to know about the country we live in.
Where I live the parking scheme is run on just such ludicrously aggressive profiteering lines.Dangerousy parked vans are often ignored by the wardens who spend much of their time sticking tickets on motorists’ cars which have just overstayed because they got carried away with their shopping. The town deserves to lose business and that’s exactly what’s happening.Shopkeepers daren’t park.Their businesses fold because someone at the council wants to make a fast buck.

To top it all those arseholes who endanger life and limb by ignoring the law about not cycling on the pavement are ignored by a profit-driven police operation that is not interested in spending any time or money preventing such blatantly anti-social behaviour.

I am sure there are people like the Poles who come to settle here who have no idea that it is actually illegal to cycle on the pavement. They’ve no means of knowing having seen the indigineous population just flout the law daily.
