Guardian: There’s nothing genuine about this ‘public engagement’ at No 10

I was one of 60 citizens in Downing Street on Saturday, but the consultation was a sham, says Liam Curtin.

Why does this surprise anyone? It’s how socialists operate wherever in the world they have managed to get their hands on the levers of power. Oh and before you risposte that some right-wing governments do it too, I’d agree, but the worst examples of so-called ‘right-wing’ regimes (eg. the Nazis) were actually far-left socialist outfits; the clue is in the names they gave themselves.

New Labour are socialists? I must have missed that announcement. Where do I collect my redistributed wealth?

And you could have allowed a few more comments before invoking Godwin’s Law.

By the same brilliant logic, the German Democratic Republic was a democratic republic, and the People’s Republic of China is run by and for the Chinese people. After all, it’s the name they gave themselves.

Well, it worked for Operation Iraqi Freedom, didn’t it?

And of course ’socialist’/'cohmmunist’ states all – it’s the way these folks do business, try to confuse the masses – it worked a treat for NuLabour in 1997; we do still have elections here, so if people waken up we can get rid of them – God, even the LibDems couldn’t be worse than this lot, could they? And yes, Justin, there has indeed been quite a lot of redistribution in the past 10 years from the private to the state financed sections of the economy (mainly to fund all the tax credits and benefits that Brown has put in place), all reflected in a general and significant rise in the rate of overall taxation, coupled with a huge rise in the level of government borrowing which will take DECADES to absorb.

Except for the Nazis, apparently, who despite their vicious left-wingery and urge to confuse the masses were honest enough to call themselves socialists, which is what they were, because that’s what they called themselves. Dashed decent of them.

Confusingly, they imprisoned and killed lots of socialists too! Cunning, cunning, cunning.

Anyway, talking of Godwin’s Law, is anybody else finding it increasingly hard to discuss John Reid without falling foul of it?

Never mind that, I’m finding it increasingly hard to discuss the Nazis without invoking John Reid.

You mean that you can actually discuss John Reid? If I tried that I think my eyeballs would pop out of my head like I was a Pekingese!

That is the dog, by the way, not some obscure racist comment.

    …not some obscure racist comment.

Yeah, you say that now, you national socialist.

I would never compare myself to a dog.

Or presume to compare myself to a cat.
