That is the sound of inevitability

Reaction to John Reid’s plan to radicalise another generation of the British population has been mixed if predictable.

Peter Hain, for example, disinterring his heroic anti-Apartheid past that he’d so successfully buried during the Blair years, used the word, ‘Guantanamo‘.

Predictably, in her role of attempting to win back Labour’s hitherto unheard of disenfranchised quasi-fascist supporters, Hazel Blears said the plan was ‘sensible‘.

The only question left to ask is this: ‘Does Blears shit in the woods?’.

More worrying is Blears’ use of the word “flexible”. Apart from the unfortunate images that that conjours, the flexible (and probably undefined) nature is something to be extremely concerned about and I have my concerns about how long it’s going to take Blears to remove her tongue from Tony’s arse.

proposals to give police tough new powers to stop and question anyone were released to the press before MPs knew of them.

    Jesus.

Sooner or later, Big Brother contestants will know about proposed constitutional changes before elected representatives do.

You know, spinning to the press before speaking to Parliament has become so much part of the fabric of British politics under this shower that I’d missed that bit. Must be more careful.

OT, but will Blair cut short his African goodbye tour to personally deal with the hostage crisis in Baghdad?

Interesting that he talks about Guantanamo Bay in the past tense, like it all happened and should now be forgotten…

    from the BBC website -

The deputy Labour leadership contender told BBC1’s Sunday AM programme: “We’ve got to be very careful that we don’t create the domestic equivalent of Guantanamo Bay, which was an international abuse of human rights, acted as a recruiting sergeant for dissidents and alienated Muslims and many other people across the world.” (my emphasis)

nothing to see here… move along please.
