Just because they weren't an interpreter doesn't mean they didn't help our troops in some small way. For us, or their idea of 'us' - whether you or I agree with the war or not? Not to get here for economic benefit, but actually helped UK troops either not get shot, not shoot Iraqis through misunderstandings or been killed in "2 UK soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter were killed by the roadside bomb" incidents? Having said that I think that there are far too many of them to give asylum to but I do think we should help them by giving them cash and helping them escape Iraq to start a new life elsewhere.
