Well I could be wrong but I have read that the iraqis that worked for britain (not just the interpreters) and their families number 20,000 people. Just because they weren't an interpreter doesn't mean they didn't help our troops in some small way.

Wayne: Sorry that sounded a little combative, but if we look at the number of employees and families (not just interpreters) it's pitifully small compared to the total number of asylum seekers in the UK.

Wayne: "there are far too many to give asylum to." Really? How many are there? How many immigrants have entered Britain in the past 10 years and how many of those have risked their lives for Britain? For us, or their idea of 'us' - whether you or I agree with the war or not? Not to get here for economic benefit, but actually helped UK troops either not get shot, not shoot Iraqis through misunderstandings or been killed in "2 UK soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter were killed by the roadside bomb" incidents?

The way the government treats people who help out this country is disgraceful. Having said that I think that there are far too many of them to give asylum to but I do think we should help them by giving them cash and helping them escape Iraq to start a new life elsewhere.
