Take courage, Gordon

It’s been 90 days since Gordon Brown became Prime Minister, and over 100 since he captured her in print and selflessly brought her plight to a wider audience.

But there’s still no word on how Gordon plans to spring Aung San Suu Kyi from her less metaphorical prison. Maybe it’s his October Surprise to woo the activists after he’s called the election.

But if she weren’t in prison, she wouldn’t have a chance to be the shining example of Curge that she’s been. Perhaps one day, when he’s got the time to devote the proper degree of attention to the matter, he will intervene and get her shot, like his other heroine, Nurse Cavell. If he could manage that, well, the sky’s the limit.

God, having Gordie on her side might not be a wise thing – he`l probably hive off UK government concern for her wellbeing into a PFI partnership with Rupert Murdoch.
