Eloquent, but poignant, as ever. Well said.

Heh. It’s not the early decorations that piss me off, it’s more that on Christmas Eve, after months of build-up, and when most people are finally getting into the spirit of things, what do Sainsburys et al do?

    Whip the buggers down.

It’s to make room for the Easter eggs.

They’ve been playing Christmas music at my local supermarket since — at least — last Saturday. Put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day which I doubt is the intention (though you never know, perhaps a new study suggests that my demographic spend slightly more when riled).

I’m in two minds when it comes to Christmas music, Jim. Slade never fail to make me grin whereas McCartney simply haaa-ving a wonderful Christmas time makes me want to kill.

You just know there’s heat burping out of those sliding doors in the background too. Sainsbury’s: heating your local area so the environment doesn’t have to.

My naffing Blackwells bookshop has one. They’re supposed to be vaguely “classy”. Clearly only “vaguely”.

Selfridges opened their ‘Christmas’ department in September. Sainsbury’s take note!

BAA airports have been in Christmas regalia since November 1st. The shops in BAA airports for at least a week before that.

Mind you, the biscuit has to be taken by Leeds city council in 2002, when they started to put up the Christmas decs on September 30th.

Or perhaps Frankie and Bennie’s, who start advertising their Christmas bookings (yes, with a mini-tree with baubles) in sodding August each year.

Sainsburys? Johnnie-come-latelies if you ask me.

My local Sainsbury’s had their first ’seasonal’ Christmas display up on… September 19th.

‘Well, I wish it could be Christmas every day…’
