Good idea with the link, Justin.
I have to come clean, I’ve just registered to donate, following the link you put, after years of saying the doctors can have whatevers useful.
It wasn’t that it’s coming into the news has made me think and decide to donate my organs, I’ve always said that’s what I want. But, when you’re out and about you don’t think of it.
You say you want to donate when the subject comes up in conversation in the pub. You see the adverts on the telly at home in the evening. Read the poster in the lift at work.
But, you never think of it when you’re in town doing some shopping, to pop into the doctors for five minutes to register. You get too ingrossed or braindead on the internet to think of going to the site to register.
That is why we need an opt-out system.
People want to donate but keep putting it off because it isn’t important in a direct way, then one day, bag! it’s too late.
If it means that much to someone they will opt-out.
Obviously the details of the system needs to be worked out, but any argument against the opt-out system is just hot air.
Does this post mean that you finally support a government initiative?
Yep, like Halley’s Comet. Don’t expect to see it again for a while.
Spot on, Sim-o. I’m all for giving more public awareness a go but you’re always fighting apathy and inertia.
