The numbers game

Good to see the police exercising their democratic right:

An estimated 18,500 police officers are marching in central London in a protest over pay.

One question, however: will their colleagues policing the march be underestimating the number attending as is traditional on such occasions?

Perhaps members of the public should have organised their protection and reported unbelievably small numbers of protesters ?

Did they get permission? Part of that route looks less than 1km away from Westminster Palace.
I suppose that depend on what they were protesting. Whether it was for something (their pay to be backdated) or against something (their pay rise being cut from 2.5% to 1.5%)

    Sim-O

It is less than 1 km from Parliament as it went past the Home Office.

A wonderful moment on the radio this morning, that almost caused me to drive off the M6.

An listener had emailed in to offer his services (and those of his friends) for crowd control duties. He admitted that they were all ex-miners.

If the march went past the Home Office it was within the designated area, so their ‘lining up to lobby their MPs’ ruse appears to have been for nothing.
