Behnam Zare’

This is from the Amnesty International Project Blog email list:

We’ve just had word that a young man in Iran aged only 15 at the time of his offence will be executed in the next 72 hours unless urgent action is taken.

Behnam Zare’ has been convicted of a murder committed when he was 15 years old. He’s now 18 and is being held in Adelabad prison, in the south-western city of Shiraz. The order to carry out his execution has now been sent to the prison.

Amnesty is urging people to take action to help save Behnam at www.amnesty.org.uk/deathpenalty

The murder reportedly took place on 21 April 2005, when Behnam Zare’ swung a knife during an argument with a man named Mehrdad, wounding him in the neck. Mehrdad later died in hospital. Behnam Zare’ was detained on 13 November 2005; Fars Criminal Court sentenced him to qesas (retribution) on charges of premeditated murder.

Behnam Zare’ is one of at least 71 child offenders currently on death row in Iran. The country continues to execute child offenders – people under the age of 18 at the time of their offence – despite the practice being strictly prohibited under international law. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has twice urged Iran to stop executions of child offenders, yet since 1990 Iran has executed at least 24 such offenders. You can find out more about the issue at the excellent campaigning website www.stopchildexecutions.com and link to our blog on this case (and other issues like the USA’s use of waterboarding) here.

This is a genuinely urgent case where our actions can make a real difference. Hope you can help.

Takes five minutes to send the letter via Amnesty’s website.

I object to innocent peoples being punished or deliberately pushed to commit crimes where they are then convicted having been considered entirely responsible for their actions. However as I know from many years as a child drug and sex slave even to the very near present as a drugging victim for the cures of those better placed in this Christian society and knowing that children as young as twelve do consciously begin to form social elite groups amongst themselves here in the UK to the detriment of vulnerable children and adults you do not have my support. Also as you seem more interested in foreign affairs and closely ally yourselves to criminal and legal drug manufacturers for your gains and advancements to the loss of domestic issues and peoples I will do what I can to ensure that the execution goes ahead in memory of children and vulnerable adults who are abused daily and those mostly who lose their lives due to ignorance’s because it benefits moralist morons like amnesty and other institutions who look upon the mentally infirm or different peoples as being insignificant so therefore less deserving. Some children consciously act as bait and sex traps for profit and selfish gains as most females in the sex industry I was subject to when I was a child in care services have shown adequately. Present me evidence that he was acting against an assailant and not defending himself against a victim or the friend or relative of one of his victims or intended victims and I will change my presentation. This will be posted after the execution should it go ahead to various governments abroad.

Andrew Buchan’s post is very very strange.

no one in this world should be executed. crimes should be held accountable for but no one should have their life taken away no matter what. amnesty thinks all people are equal and should have their basic human rights protected regardless of race, sex, religion, circumstance or actions. a person may disagree with that point of view, which they are entitled to, but at the same time a person should be free to support it also without fear of mockery.
