Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition
Ha ha. What a dull Budget. Ha ha. Delivered by a dull man. Ha ha.
The thing is, what the hell were people expecting? When was the last time anybody laughed themselves sick at the delivery of a budget? Or wept hot tears of emotion? It’s a recitation of revenues and expenditures not Madam bleedin’ Butterfly or The Empire Strikes Back. Of course it’s sodding boring. It’s never anything else. Don’t make an issue of it.
If only Alistair Darling had told a few mucky jokes or done his white-eared elephant impression. Maybe next year.
