The big blogs by the numbers - off-colour imagery ahead
Bloggers, we all like gawping at our visitor statistics, don’t we? Watching those little graphs peak is a metaphor to put a tingle in your dingle.
Those of us with particularly prominent peaks like to wave them about. But do we really know our hits from our visitors, our page impressions from our unique individual readers?

Let’s not forget the wonders of Google search referrals, either. One of my hits today was from somebody searching weird national holidays involving snowmen. I was first out of 48,700 results, but you don’t see me boasting about it.

For some reason, I get loads of search referrals from the phrase “how to make lard”. Surely farm animals can lay down a layer of fat without Google to help them?

I am disappointed that the drama queen accused you of being homophobic. I was rather hoping he would accuse me of that. I won’t mince words. Iain Dale has on several occasions on his blog drawn attention to his homosexuality with double entendres. Before he starts name calling others, he has yet to admit to my charges that he is both a hypocrite and a liar.

Well, for myself, I’ll admit that as someone who is nauseatingly politically correct, as I am, I didn’t choose my language very well. I did use a word open to a number of interpretations. I realised almost the second I pushed the button. I’m sympathetic to his reaction.
I think you’re too hard on yourself, justin. If you’d have left it without specifying what he minces, then it would’ve been open to interpretation.
Well… maybe. As someone who spends a lot his time examining other people’s use of words, I’m sensitive to the issue and hot on other people’s handling of it.
I agree. Way too hard on yourself. Dale minces his words. He’s a drama queen. He flounces on a regular basis. That’s nothing to do with being gay, it’s just Iain acting like a child.
