The same as the libertarian argument for everything else: “I should be allowed do whatever the hell I like and bollocks to the rest of you”.

    I wonder what his non-driving booze-related convictions are…?

    “What’s the libertarian argument”

Other than that humans are all too fallible there ain’t one. Your rights to whatever don’t include damaging or endangering others.

    It’s this:

“SCRAP ALL DRINK DRIVING LAWS”, SAYS FREE MARKET AND CIVIL LIBERTIES THINK TANK

The Libertarian Alliance, the radical free market and civil liberties think tank and pressure group, today calls on the British Government to repeal all laws against drinking and driving. Drivers should be free to drink as much alcohol as they like before and while driving. The Police should be allowed to intervene only if a driver appears from his actions to be a danger to other road users, or if he causes an accident…

Via Tim’s comments, here’s the definitive Libertarian take on drinking and driving. At least no-one can accuse Guido of hypocrisy…

It’s a feast of fun, that site. Even on the home page where they offer “Power Dinners in Westminster”.

Very nice they are too. Had you attended the last one, you would have been treated to a fine speech, followed by a question and answer session, given by no less a personage than the Head of Communications for the UK Libertarian Party.

      Er…

      That would be me then…
