The Prescott article does say it all:

Prescott, who was in charge of UK housing policy between 1997 and 2006

There is a lot wrong with the UK housing system and in the south and various pockets north of Watford Gap, house prices are ridiculous. But prices reflect supply and demand - and it is the supply-side, with the overly restrictive planning system, that is fundamentally broken not the demand side, which is where Prescott is blaming the banks. If people feel that they need to spend 40% of their after tax income on their mortgage - that is their choice, to a significant extent.

I have to say that some of my colleagues who live around London spend a huge amount on season tickets - the equivalent of nearly a third of my mortgage.

Finger nonsense. I blogged about it over a month ago and pointed out why it was crap. I had a worse injury over twenty years ago. I used Vitamin E capsules!

Men at Arms? Certainly. One of the best books about the second world war, especially as part of the Sword of Honour trilogy. And it's funny.

You're going to meet Apthorpe's porpoises and Brigadier Ritchie-Hook...

Alex's latest blog post... Blue Streak, Black Arrow
