Centrica dead pool
Anybody care to have a punt on how many extra deaths the British Gas price rise will cause this winter?
I’ll start with 10,000.

I’m going to go for 0.
How much is the dead pool worth?
Its pretty crude, and someone else is more than welcome to correct it, but here’s my back of a fag packet attempt. Current British Gas profit is £166m to the half year. They put up the price by 35%. While thats unlikely to increase profit by the same amount, lets argue it does. That means in the second half, they should get roughly £224m. That’s £390m for the full year. Work that down to a per hour figure and you get £44531 profit per hour. If that takes 10 deaths per hour, that works out as £4453 per pensioner.
How many additional pensioner suicides, ie those who can`t face the choice between heating and eating?
“those who can`t face the choice between heating and eating?”
Buying a jumper would seem like a more sensible option.

I reckon Justin is at half of the genocide estimate.
I reckon about minus thirty seven thousand, eight hundred and twenty three (-37,823). The reduction in use will decrease the rate of climate change and save lives. They should put it up even more and all the other energy companies should do the same. Then we should nick their profits and give the money to schools hospitals and pensioners. And me.
