Sunday Mail: 7/7 bombers were given £20,000 funding… by Children in Need

Er, no they weren’t. The Mail says so itself in the same article:

The £20,000 – donated between 1999 and 2002 – went to Leeds Community School in Beeston.

Still, it’ll give tossers an urban myth to trot out come the next Children in Need.

This tosh was started up by Newsnight the other night in one of the weakest reports I think I’ve ever seen. There was never any evidence presented whatsoever to prove that any of the four bombers had used the cash, and that even if they had, they had most likely spent it legitimately. The implication was that Children in Need were personally responsible for allocating for every penny sent out, which ought to be a fun activity for whoever’s tasked with doing so. God knows why the BBC is now attacking itself, perhaps it’s fed up with everyone else having the monopoly on doing so.
