Is Bloglines knackered? My account hasn’t updated all day and it did the same yesterday.

Anybody recommend me another decent RSS reader (not Google Reader or Netvibes)? Ta.

No, just all the bloggers have been banged up under Evil EU Anti Hate Speech legislation…

I’ve noticed that Bloglines hasn’t been updating properly since 1st October; it took me a couple of days to pick up on it, but that’s when it all dates from I think. I’ve posted a message to Bloglines on Monday querying what’s going, but haven’t yet received a reply. On several occasions in the past when I’ve posted messages to Bloglines about problems with feeds I’ve had sensible and helpful responses quite quickly, so I’m wondering if something else is going on this time that has resulted in the non-responsiveness.

I’ve also been using Google Reader for a while, but never much cared for it, however yesterday I found out how to export all my subscriptions from Bloglines to Google Reader and have since been using Google Reader with increasing success now that I am perservering with learning its nuances.

Exporting one’s subscriptions from Bloglines is relatively straightforward although not particularly well-explained, but I managed to follow the instructions after a couple of false starts; one of the reasons I had been reluctant to try Google Reader more before was because I found the prospect of re-inputting manually all my feeds currently on Bloglines to be too daunting.

    Sorry I use Google Reader.

But I don’t use blogger, so I don’t feel like I’m totally in thrall to them.

Most of the online RSS readers that were around have died the death I’m afraid. Do you need a web based reader? I use the stripped down Firefox add-on ‘Sage-Too’ which works very well and, like the web versions, opens feed extracts in the browser window. Very uncluttered.

I really like SAGE, too. However, I need to be able to sync feeds across various machines and locations. So, an online one is my best option. I use Newsgator. It’s pretty fine.

I’m still getting feeds from your site and others on Bloglines, Justin, but there are a number of those red exclamation marks as well.

A negative recommendation: don’t bother getting Flock for its RSS reader. I too use Google Reader and have no problem with it. What’s your beef?

I also use Google Reader. But I could quit any time I wanted to.

    Try Safari – you’ll need a Mac.

I too am a big fan of the Sage add on for Firefox.
