President Obama: get your disillusionment while it’s hot

Commiserations to President-elect Barack Obama! Does he really know what he’s let himself in for? Can I be the first to comment on what an unmitigated disaster his presidency turned out to be? What a bastard.

And to think we got our hopes up. Again. Here’s a song for his fans:

The Obama team have already released a detailed policy document of his plans for the first 100 days. Here it is:

1. Change
2. Conjugate the verb ‘to can’

My favourite description of Obama is that he’s a ‘stupendous bullshitter‘. He now has to build on those foundations of stupendous bullshit. Is it rock solid bullshit?

Exciting times, no doubt. I’m not unaware of the fantastic historical precedent. We even explained the huge significance to our eldest at breakfast. It’s just the trouble with being a blank page is that people feel entitled to scrawl what they want on you; largely their own story. They’re already scrawling all kinds of honking fantasies all over Barack. They’re going to be angry when he doesn’t publish them despite all his not so much promises but ostentatious winks and encouraging nods.

And poor John McCain. He now has to stay alive for the next four years in order to prove to America that it hasn’t just dodged the bullet of a Palin presidency.

I felt good that Levi Johnston is off the hook. Pity nobody caught footage of him punching the air.

I think Mel Phillips has been pointing it for months

Not that I don’t agree with you.

Yeah, but we agree with Mel but for different reasons. Mel’s worried Obama won’t put enough Muslims through the mincer. I’m worried he’ll put too many through it.

Whenever a new manager is appointed at Oxford United, which is often, it has become traditional for supporters on bulletin boards to compete to be the first to call for their sacking.

This is supposed to be a joke. But in fact, as it turns out, we’re always right.

I don’t disagree – if he wants history judge him kindly, assassination’s his best hope.

His victory speech was fantastic though … even though I wanted McCain to win. Brought a lump to the throat, hit all the right buttons. In fact the last time I got so choked up over a victory speech was in the early hours of May 2nd, 1997.
