David Cameron: champion for justice

It’s good to see David Cameron condemning the heavy-handiness of the police when questioning Damian Green. No doubt from now on he’ll be condemning all instances of over-zealous policing and not just when it involves one of his mates.

What’s Cameron going to do though? He’s going to be Prime Minister before very long, or so he (not unreasonably) thinks. So if he’s going to defend the principle of leaking confidential government documents, he’s going to put himself in a very difficult position for the future, isn’t he?

What, you think he’ll have the slightest moral difficulty doing an about turn and consigning any general points derived from this little episode to the memory whole? You optimist, you.
