… so leave a message after the beep
Gordon Brown on Tony Blair’s job as peacemaker in the current crisis:
Have you spoken to Tony Blair in his role as Middle East peace envoy?
Tony’s on holiday at the moment.
Wherever he is, I hope it’s pissing down.

I’m not sure even the most optimistic
dog handlerworld leader would have appointed Tony as a peacemaker; hence his job description, “envoy”. One of the Chambers dictionary’s definitions of “envoy”, I am happy to note, is “a diplomatic minister of the second class”.As are, no doubt, the hotels in which he stays…
Has anyone seen any information about what he has done in this role since his appointment?
“I want a ceasefire; I don’t think that this should continue at all. What I want is an immediate and urgent ceasefire, but we want it to be based on deliverables for the future.”
So, a ceasefire is needed, now, once the deliverables have been sorted. Haven’t ‘the deliverables’ been what the last 60 years have been trying to sort?
Unrelatedly, you’re not the only one that forgets where he leaves a *ahem* deposit.
