Where are the G20 killers?

Speaking on the Today programme yesterday, Derek Barnett, vice president of the Police Superintendents’ Association of England and Wales, said this of the policing of the G20 protest:

We ought to put that in context of violence and the circumstances of thousands of protesters with the sole intention of causing damage to buildings and at the worst injuring and killing police officers.

Killing police officers? I might have missed them so can anyone point me towards the news stories of protesters being arrested for the attempted murder of police officers? Or of confiscated weapons being shown to the media? As far as I can see, just three police officers were injured on April 1. Of course their could be more but where is the CCTV and video footage of protesters attacking police officers? Where are the photos of ‘thousands of protesters’ causing damage to buildings? I trust the police are stopping at nothing to catch these people?

Just asking, like.

Anyone that deluded and paranoid should be sacked and seek psychiatric help. Or stand as a Labour candidate.

Ah no Justin, you’ve missed the point. Derek Barnett was deducing, on the basis of no evidence whatsoever, that protesters wanted to murder policemen. He didn’t say they actually did, merely that they had that intention.

It would be equally valid to deduce – from the evidence available – that the police force, as a whole want to eat babies. They don’t actually do it, but you can’t prove to me that a lot of them don’t have that intention.

Although why I feel the need to emphasise the word intention every time I write it needs to be called into question. I don’t think I had set out with that intention

Protest constitutes an existential threat to the Met?

You can say what you like about anonymous protesters intent because you don’t have to prove it in court. Oh, and protesters don’t have a professional association who will sue you for defamation.
