John Rentoul’s happy misfortune
John Rentoul, in case you don’t know him, is a columnist for the Independent on Sunday and unpaid New Labour suppository. In print, he comes across as a singularly unpleasant person. Not evil as such but having a lack of self-awareness that makes you want to hate him.
Take this from his latest column about how health secretary Alan Johnson should take over from Gordon Brown…
…he has a biography to die for, up against the Bullingdon boys: the orphan brought up by his sister in a council house…
You hear that? To die for. Many will be the days I’m sure, should Johnson ascend to the throne and pull off the miracle of saving Labour, that he will thank his lucky stars his parents were considerate enough to die when he was a kid.

I shoud really buy a brace to stop the ol’ jaw dropping so often.
Goodness, that’s sick. He seems to be constipated with partisanship.
If this guy can earn a living from writing, maybe I can get a job wiring the electrics on a submarine.
What a tit face.
Like the sort of person who talks about ‘putting food on your family’, he probably doesn’t even realise what an awful thing that is to say.
I declared a self-denying ordinance on commenting on his blog. I fail at thsi quite regularly. But frequently posts I comment on just disappear—it’s almost as if he doesn’t realise how wrong he is until you point it out to him.
Ah well.
Relax, he’s just another of the series of tits for whom brand loyalty is the point of 21st century politics.
I’m thinking of starting a blog to vent on politicians and journalists on all sides who get away with textual murder, on the basis that someone should. Dorries, Blunkett, Gilligan, Martin bloody Kettle…
The only problem is that there aren’t enough days in the week.
Haha Rentaghoul. What a hole.
